    Cambodia is a country located in the southern portion of the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia. With a total landmass of 181,035 square kilometers (69,898 sq), it is bordered by Thailand to the northwest, Laos to the northeast, Vietnam to the east, and the Gulf of Thailand to the southwest.

    With a population of over 14.8 million, Cambodia is the 69th most populous country in the world. The official religion is Theravada Buddhism which is practiced by around 95% of the Cambodian population. The country minority groups include Vietnamese, Chinese, Chams and 30 various hill tribes. The capital and largest city is Phnom Penh, the political, economical, and cultural center of Cambodia.

    The kingdom is a constitutional monarchy with Norodom Sihanouk, an elected monarch chosen by the Royal Throne Council, as head of state. The head of government is Hun Sen, who is currently the longest serving leader in South East Asia and has ruled Cambodia for over 25 years.

    Cambodia has an estimated population of 14,805,358 people. Ninety percent of Cambodia's population is of Khmer origin and speak the Khmer language, the country's official language. Cambodia's population is relatively homogeneous. Its minority groups include Vietnamese (2,800,000), Chinese (1,180,000), Cham (317,000), and Khmer Loeu (550,000). The country's birth rate is 25.4 per 1,000. Its population growth rate is 1.70%, significantly higher than those of Thailand, South Korea, and India.

    The area of forest in Cambodia is accounted for about 74% of the area with lush vegetation, green scenery, small industrial and mining enterprises and very little industrial pollution. The well vegetation contributes to the excellent air quality, water quality were and plenty of negative oxygen ions.
    The tourism industry is the country's second-greatest source of hard currency after the textile industry. Most of the tourists were Japanese, Chinese, Americans, South Koreans and French people, said the report, adding that the industry earned some 1400 million U.S. dollars in 2007, accounting for almost ten percent of the kingdom's gross national products. Chinese-language newspaper Cambodia and China Daily quoted industry official as saying that Cambodia will have three million foreign tourist arrival in 2010 and five million in 2015. Tourism has been one of Cambodia's triple pillar industries. The Angkor Wat historical park in Siem Reap province, the beaches in Sihanoukville and the capital city Phnom Penh are the main attractions for foreign tourists.

    Cambodia has a tropical monsoon climate. The annual average temperature is 27℃ ranged from 23℃ to 38℃. Coastal city of Sihanoukville also has a tropical monsoon climate; the average temperature is slightly lower than other regions, the annual average temperature ranged from 25℃ to 33℃.
    Temperature is comfortable and pleasant around the whole year. The annual average rainfall in most parts of Cambodia is more than 1500mm and Sihanoukville is up to 5000mm. rainy season is from May to October and dry season is November to April. In rainy season, showers and sunshine is alternating. It is different from the rainy season in southern China, India and Bahli which is very uncomfortable. In dry season, there are a lot of sunny day with a small amount of occasional showers. Small temperature fluctuations appear throughout the whole year, the maximum temperature is in April. The day and night temperature difference is within ten degrees. Due to the relatively low humidity rate, it is cool in morning and night.

    Sihanoukville locates at the northeastern Gulf of Thailand. After Typhoons formulation on the east side of the Pacific crossing Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, the pressure is low, which is usually bring greater rainfall, and not a disastrous storm surge. After typhoon formulation on the west of Gulf of Thailand crossing Thailand, Indonesia there is no effect on Cambodia. From the current weather records of Sihanoukville, there is no direct typhoon hit in the city's record.
    Cambodia and Indonesia belong to different seismic sections and Indonesia is located in the earthquake plate in Indian Ocean but there is no record in Cambodia. Meanwhile, as for siege by Indonesia and Thailand from the side of southeast, south and west, the Gulf of Thailand has never affected by tsunami.
